Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (diced)
  • 1 red bell pepper (diced)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste (divided)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce (divided)
  • 1 cup chicken bone broth (author recommends Kettle and Fire brand)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tbsp water to create a slurry)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 green cabbage (large, chopped)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)

Steps

  1. 1

In a large saute pan over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until fully browned and cooked through.

  2. 2

Add the diced onion, diced green bell pepper, and diced red bell pepper to the pan with the meat.

  3. 3

Season the mixture with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

  4. 4

Add the tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce, then saute until everything is well combined and the vegetables begin to soften.

  5. 5

Pour in the chicken bone broth and stir in the minced garlic.

  6. 6

Add the cornstarch slurry (1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water) to the pan and stir to incorporate.

  7. 7

Add the chopped cabbage to the pan. Cover the pan with a lid and cook, mixing occasionally, until the cabbage has wilted and cooked down to your desired tenderness.

  8. 8

Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot, ideally over cauliflower rice.

Notes

Serve with cauliflower rice for a complete low-carb meal. The author specifically recommends Kettle and Fire chicken bone broth for the best flavor.
