Ingredients
- 0.5 onion (large, diced)
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste (or 2 cloves fresh garlic and small piece of ginger, crushed)
- 2 lb ground beef
- 3 tbsp Fadwa Masala Keema Masala (heaping)
- 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
- 0.5 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 green chilies (1-2, diced)
- cilantro (handful, chopped)
- 1 tbsp tomato paste (heaping)
- 28 oz marinara sauce (1 jar)
- 5 tbsp butter (for bechamel)
- 5 tbsp flour (for bechamel)
- 5 cup whole milk (for bechamel)
- 0.5 tsp chicken bouillon powder (or 1/2 cube)
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 0.25 tsp nutmeg
- 0.5 tsp salt (for bechamel, to taste)
- 1 package lasagna noodles (boiled to package instructions)
- 1 bag mozzarella cheese (large)
- cilantro or parsley (for garnish)
Steps
- 1
Boil the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 2
In a large pan, sauté the diced onion until translucent. Add the ginger garlic paste and cook until fragrant.
- 3
Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- 4
Stir in the Keema Masala, salt, red chili, green chilies, tomato paste, and marinara sauce. Simmer for 10-15 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Stir in the handful of chopped cilantro at the end.
- 5
Prepare the bechamel: Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to create a roux. Gradually whisk in the milk to prevent lumps. Cook until thickened, then stir in the chicken bouillon, black pepper, nutmeg, and salt.
- 6
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 7
Assemble the lasagna in a baking dish: spread a layer of meat sauce, followed by noodles, bechamel, and mozzarella. Repeat layers until ingredients are used, finishing with a generous layer of mozzarella on top.
- 8
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley before serving.
Notes
Ensure the bechamel is whisked constantly while adding milk to avoid lumps. You can adjust the spice level by adding more or fewer green chilies.
