- 1 tsp yellow mustard (for the ground beef)
- Worcestershire sauce (a few splashes)
- 3 plakjes American cheese or cheddar (use either American cheese or cheddar)
- 3 yellow onions (medium-sized, thinly sliced)
- 1 tbsp butter
- water (a splash, if needed for the onions)
- 4 tbsp mayonnaise or sour cream (use either mayonnaise or sour cream)
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tbsp caramelized onions (finely chopped; use some of the prepared onions)
- 1 tbsp pickles or pickle relish (pickles finely chopped)
- 1 tsp yellow mustard (for the burger sauce)
- 0.5 tsp white vinegar
- 0.5 tsp garlic powder (for the burger sauce)
- romaine lettuce or iceberg lettuce (chopped; as needed)
- 2 tomatoes (large, diced)

Steps
- 1
Cut the potatoes into small cubes. Toss them with olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 2
Cook the potatoes in the air fryer at 200 °C for 15–20 minutes. Shake halfway through, until crispy. Alternatively, bake them in the oven at 220 °C for 25–35 minutes, turning them halfway through.
- 3
Melt the butter in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and a pinch of salt.
- 4
Cook the onions for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and caramelized. Add a splash of water if needed.
- 5
Finely chop 2 tbsp of the caramelized onions for the sauce.
- 6
Mix the mayonnaise or sour cream with the ketchup, finely chopped caramelized onions, finely chopped pickles or pickle relish, yellow mustard, white vinegar, and garlic powder until well combined.
- 7
Cook the ground beef in a pan over medium-high to high heat. Add the garlic powder, smoked paprika, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
- 8
Break the ground beef into small pieces as it cooks and cook until browned.
- 9
Add the slices of American cheese or cheddar and let them melt into the ground beef.
- 10
Divide the chopped lettuce, crispy potatoes, cheesy ground beef, diced tomatoes, and caramelized onions between two bowls.
- 11
Drizzle with burger sauce and serve with spicy pickled green peppers.
Notes
The mayonnaise can be replaced with sour cream, and the American cheese with cheddar. The potatoes can be prepared in the air fryer or oven. No quantity is specified for the oil, potato seasonings, Worcestershire sauce, lettuce, or pickled peppers; use to taste or as needed.
