Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef (if not lean, cook and drain fat first)
- 0.5 onion (medium, diced)
- 6 slices bacon (cooked and crumbled)
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 tsp ground mustard
- salt (to taste)
- black pepper (to taste)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded, for garnish)
- 4 hamburger buns (for serving)
Steps
- 1
Break the lean ground beef into chunks and place them into your Crockpot® slow cooker.
- 2
Add the diced onion, crumbled bacon, BBQ sauce, ground mustard, salt, and pepper on top of the beef.
- 3
Cover the slow cooker and cook on HIGH for 4 hours.
- 4
Halfway through the cooking time (at approximately 2 hours), use a wooden spoon to break up the meat and stir the sauce to ensure even cooking and distribution.
- 5
Serve the meat mixture on hamburger buns and top each with shredded cheddar cheese.
Notes
If you do not have lean ground beef, you must cook and drain the fat from the beef in a skillet first. Then, place the drained beef in the slow cooker and reduce the total cooking time to 2 hours.
