Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken wings (separated into drums and flats)
- paprika (to taste)
- garlic powder (to taste)
- lemon pepper spice (divided (used for seasoning and sauce))
- salt (to taste)
- 2 tbsp cornstarch (for coating)
- cooking oil (for frying)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 lemon (juiced)
- 2 tbsp hot sauce (your choice of brand)
- 3 tbsp honey
- fresh parsley (chopped)
Steps
- 1
Prepare the chicken wings by separating the drums from the flats.
- 2
In a large bowl, season the wings with paprika, garlic powder, lemon pepper spice, and salt.
- 3
Add about 2 tablespoons of cornstarch to the wings. Mix thoroughly to ensure that all the meat is properly and evenly coated.
- 4
Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer. Fry the wings in the hot oil until they are golden and crispy, which should take approximately 12 minutes.
- 5
While the wings are frying, prepare the sauce by melting 2 tablespoons of butter in a separate saucepan over medium heat.
- 6
Add lemon pepper spice, the juice of 1 lemon, your choice of hot sauce, honey, and fresh parsley to the melted butter.
- 7
Simmer the sauce mixture until it has reduced and becomes thick and sticky.
- 8
Once the wings are cooked, remove them from the oil and toss them immediately in the prepared sauce until fully coated.
Notes
Ensure the oil is hot enough before adding the wings to achieve maximum crispiness. The cornstarch is key to getting that golden crust without a heavy batter.
