Ingredients
- 400 g wheat flour (all-purpose flour)
- 190 ml water (warm)
- 2 g dry yeast
- 2 g baking powder
- 50 g Greek yogurt (plain and unsweetened)
- 30 ml olive oil
- 5 g salt
- 40 g sugar
- cheese (cheese blend for filling (such as mozzarella or chihuahua))
- butter (melted, for brushing at the end)
Steps
- 1
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and dry yeast.
- 2
Add the warm water, Greek yogurt, and olive oil to the dry ingredients.
- 3
Mix and knead vigorously until you obtain a smooth, elastic dough that does not stick to your hands.
- 4
Place the dough in a lightly oiled container, cover it, and let it rest in a warm place until it doubles in size (approximately 45-60 minutes).
- 5
Divide the dough into equal portions and shape them into small balls.
- 6
Roll out each ball with a rolling pin, place a generous portion of cheese in the center, and close the dough by wrapping it around the cheese.
- 7
Gently roll out again with the rolling pin to flatten the stuffed bread.
- 8
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for 2-3 minutes per side until puffed and with characteristic golden/charred spots.
- 9
Remove from heat and immediately brush with melted butter before serving.
Notes
You can add minced garlic or cilantro to the melted butter for extra flavor when brushing the bread. Ensure the water is warm, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.
