Steps
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220 °C) (220°C (425 °F)) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and cook for 3-5 minutes until they are fork-tender but not mushy.
Drain the broccoli thoroughly and pat it dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to remove excess moisture.
Place the broccoli florets on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each piece.
Use the bottom of a heavy glass or a small jar to gently press down on each floret until it is flattened (smashed).
In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Drizzle the oil mixture over the smashed broccoli florets, ensuring they are well coated.
Sprinkle the grated parmesan cheese evenly over the top of each broccoli piece.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and crispy.
Remove from the oven and serve immediately while hot.
Notes
For extra crispiness, ensure the broccoli is very dry before smashing. You can also add a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat.
