Weights are estimates. Together, the ingredients weigh about 870 g before cooking, which is about 145 g per serving.
Steps
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the eggs, half-and-half, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Whisk until the French toast batter is evenly combined.
Tear the sweet rolls into individual rolls. Submerge the rolls in the French toast batter for about 15–20 seconds, coating them on all sides. Do not soak them longer, or they may become too soggy.
Meanwhile, heat a large frying pan over medium heat and melt 2 tablespoons of the salted butter.
Add half of the soaked rolls to the pan. Cook, turning them as needed, until they are golden brown on all six sides.
Remove the first batch from the pan. Add the remaining salted butter, then add the rest of the soaked rolls and cook until golden brown on all six sides.
Once all the rolls are cooked, add the white sugar and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon to a shallow bowl or dish. Stir until evenly combined.
Toss each cooked French toast roll in the cinnamon sugar until it is coated on all sides.
Plate the cinnamon-sugar-coated French toast bites and serve with salted caramel sauce or syrup for dipping.
Notes
Keep the soaking time to 15–20 seconds so the sweet rolls do not become too soggy. The source describes cooking each roll on all six sides but does not specify an exact cooking time; cook until golden brown. Nutrition is an estimate based on typical packaged Hawaiian sweet rolls and salted caramel sauce.
