Ingredients
- 12 Rice wrappers (For forming the dumplings)
- 250 g Raw peeled shrimp
- 1 Small garlic clove (Minced or grated)
- Fresh ginger (A small piece, approximately 5 g; grated or very finely minced)
- 1 tbsp Soy sauce (For the filling)
- 1 tsp Cornstarch (Level)
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce (For the sauce)
- 1 tsp Sesame oil (For the sauce)
- 0.5 tsp Crushed dried chili (Adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp Vinegar (For the sauce)
Steps
- 1
Finely chop or grate the shrimp, garlic, and ginger. Place them in a bowl and mix with 1 tbsp of soy sauce and the cornstarch until you have a uniform, slightly bound filling.
- 2
Soften a rice wrapper according to the package instructions, usually by briefly dipping it in warm water. Place it on a clean surface and wait a few seconds for it to become flexible, without allowing it to soften too much.
- 3
Place a portion of the filling in the center of the wrapper. Fold the sides inward and roll firmly to form a sealed packet. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling until you have 12 dumplings.
- 4
Steam the dumplings, keeping them separated so they do not stick together, for approximately 8-10 minutes, until the shrimp are completely opaque and cooked through. Alternatively, they can be browned in a lightly greased skillet after wrapping; the wrapper should remain tender and the edges should be lightly golden.
- 5
While the dumplings are cooking, mix 2 tbsp of soy sauce, the sesame oil, crushed chili, and vinegar in a small bowl. Taste and adjust the amount of chili to your preference.
- 6
Serve the dumplings hot with the dipping sauce.
