Ingredients
- 1 espresso lungo (large espresso, must be hot)
- 1 tsp butter (roughly a teaspoon)
- 0.5 oz maple syrup (add more if you prefer it sweeter)
- salt (a pinch, plus extra for garnish)
- ice (enough to fill serving glass)
- 3 oz milk of choice (up to 4 oz)
Steps
- 1
Prepare a hot lungo (large espresso) and pour it into a mixing glass.
- 2
Add roughly a teaspoon of butter, 0.5 oz (15ml) of maple syrup, and a pinch of salt to the hot espresso.
- 3
Froth the mixture using a handheld milk frother until the butter is completely dissolved and the liquid is well combined.
- 4
Fill a separate serving glass with ice.
- 5
Pour 3-4 oz (90-120 ml) of your milk of choice over the ice.
- 6
Pour the frothed espresso mixture over the milk.
- 7
Optionally, sprinkle a little more salt on top of the drink before serving.
Notes
The coffee must be hot when adding the butter to ensure it melts and emulsifies properly during frothing. You can adjust the maple syrup quantity to your preferred sweetness level.
