Ingredients
- 1 package Boursin cheese (Garlic & Herb or your favorite flavor)
- 12 oz short pasta (penne, rigatoni, or shells)
- 1 lb chicken sausage (sliced)
- 3 garlic (minced)
- 1 can diced tomatoes (or 1 1/2 cups cherry tomatoes)
- 3 cup chicken broth
- 0.5 cup heavy cream (or milk for a lighter option)
- 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- salt & pepper (to taste)
- 0.25 cup grated parmesan (optional, for extra creaminess)
- 0.25 cup fresh basil (optional, for garnish)
Steps
- 1
Heat a large skillet or pan over medium heat.
- 2
Add olive oil and sliced chicken sausage. Cook for 3-4 minutes until browned.
- 3
Add garlic, red pepper flakes, and Italian seasoning, stirring for another minute.
- 4
Pour in the diced tomatoes and chicken broth. Stir, scraping up any browned bits.
- 5
Add the pasta directly into the pan, ensuring it's mostly submerged in the liquid.
- 6
Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cover and cook for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until pasta is tender.
- 7
Stir in the Boursin cheese and heavy cream until smooth and creamy. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of broth or milk.
- 8
(Optional: Stir in parmesan) for extra cheesiness.
- 9
Garnish with fresh basil and serve warm!
Notes
If the sauce is too thick after adding the cheese and cream, you can easily thin it out with a splash of extra chicken broth or milk. For a lighter version, substitute the heavy cream with whole or 2% milk.
