Ingredients
- 20 g Dark chocolate (melted)
- 30 g Cocoa powder
- 2 Egg whites (approximately 70g)
- 30 g Milk (dairy or plant-based)
- Sweetener (your choice of sweetener or sugar, to taste)
- Oil (for greasing the ramekins)
- Cocoa powder (for dusting the ramekins)
Steps
- 1
Melt the 20g of dark chocolate using a double boiler until smooth.
- 2
In a mixing bowl, combine the egg whites, cocoa powder, milk, melted dark chocolate, and your preferred sweetener.
- 3
Whisk the ingredients together until the batter is well combined and smooth.
- 4
Prepare two ramekins or small molds by coating them with a little oil and dusting with cocoa powder to prevent sticking.
- 5
Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared ramekins.
- 6
Cook in an air fryer at 160°C (320°F) for 8 minutes, or in a preheated oven for 10 minutes, until the edges are set but the center remains soft.
Notes
For a molten 'lava' effect, ensure you do not overcook the cakes. One commenter suggests that for a fully cooked cake, it may need up to 15 minutes at 180°C, but the original recipe is designed for a soft heart.
