Ingredients

  • 1 can cannellini beans (drain and rinse)
  • 0.5 cup oats
  • 0.25 cup coconut oil
  • salt (pinch)
  • 0.25 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • baking soda (pinch)
  • milk (splash; enough so that it can blend smoothly)
  • 3 tbsp black sesame powder (approximately 3 packs)
  • chocolate chips (to taste)

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a small baking pan.

  2. 2

In a blender, combine the drained and rinsed cannellini beans, oats, coconut oil, pinch of salt, maple syrup, vanilla extract, baking soda, and a splash of milk.

  3. 3

Blend the mixture together until smooth, adding more milk if necessary to achieve a blendable consistency.

  4. 4

Pour out half of the plain bean mixture into your prepared baking pan.

  5. 5

Add the black sesame powder to the remaining half of the mixture still in the blender and blend again until fully incorporated.

  6. 6

Pour the black sesame mixture into the pan on top of the plain mixture.

  7. 7

Add in your chocolate chips if using.

  8. 8

Use a knife or skewer to swirl the two mixtures together to create a marbled effect.

  9. 9

    Bake for 35 minutes at 350°F (175°C).

Notes

The recipe uses black sesame powder for the flavor and color; if you cannot find powder, ground black sesame seeds may work. Ensure the beans are rinsed very well to remove any 'beany' flavor.
