Weights are estimates. Together, the ingredients weigh about 720 g before cooking, which is about 240 g per serving.

Steps

  1. Drain the jackfruit thoroughly. Remove the seeds, then use your hands or a fork to break the jackfruit into smaller pieces.

  2. Place the prepared jackfruit in a bowl. Add the salt, granulated garlic, onion powder, and cornstarch, and toss until the pieces are evenly coated.

  3. Place a cast-iron pan over medium heat and add a small amount of cooking oil.

  4. Add the seasoned jackfruit to the pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring and turning as needed, until the pieces are lightly browned and crispy.

  5. Add the BBQ sauce to the browned jackfruit. Stir until the sauce is well combined and cook until it becomes slightly caramelized.

Notes

Use your favorite BBQ sauce if desired. The finished jackfruit can be added to other recipes as a meat replacement.
