Ingredients
- 2 lb Chicken, preferably drumsticks and thighs (Drumsticks were used in the video; chicken thighs may also be used.)
- 0.5 cup White vinegar
- 0.333 cup Soy sauce (Source states 1/3 cup.)
- 8 Garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 Medium onion, thinly sliced (The video uses red onion; the written ingredient list specifies a medium onion.)
- 3 Bay leaves
- 0.5 Chicken bouillon cube (Use half of one cube.)
- 1 tsp Black pepper
- 0.5 tsp Kosher salt (Or to taste.)
- 1 tsp Sugar
Steps
- 1
Thinly slice the onion and crush the garlic cloves. Place the sliced onion in the bottom of the crockpot to form a bed, then add the crushed garlic over it. This bed helps keep the chicken from burning.
- 2
Place the chicken drumsticks or thighs on top of the onion-and-garlic bed.
- 3
Add the soy sauce and white vinegar to the crockpot.
- 4
Add the bay leaves and half of the chicken bouillon cube.
- 5
Add the black pepper, kosher salt, and sugar.
- 6
Cover the crockpot with its lid and cook on the high setting for about 3 hours.
- 7
Serve the chicken adobo with steamed white rice or garlic fried rice, also called sinangag.
Notes
The creator mentions that the chicken may be seared before adding it to the slow cooker, but describes this as optional. The source does not provide a finished internal temperature or additional doneness cue; verify that the chicken is fully cooked before serving.
