Ingredients
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (crushed)
- 2.5 boneless chicken thighs (chopped; alternatively use 200 g cooked chicken in a soup maker that cannot process raw chicken)
- 200 g potatoes (peeled and cubed; approximate quantity)
- 2 sticks celery (chopped)
- 70 g carrot (peeled and chopped; approximate quantity)
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 75 g egg noodles or pasta (approximately 1 nest of dried medium egg noodles)
- 1 chicken stock cube or stock pot (The author prefers a stock pot for fuller flavor; homemade chicken stock may also be used.)
- hot water (Add enough to reach the soup maker's fill line. Cold water or prepared stock may also be used.)
- 0.5 lemon lemon juice (juice of half a lemon; optional)
- salt and pepper (according to taste; the author did not add extra seasoning)
Steps
- 1
Add the chopped onion, crushed garlic, chopped chicken, cubed potatoes, chopped celery, chopped carrot, dried thyme, chicken stock cube or stock pot, optional lemon juice, and salt and pepper to the soup maker. Leave the noodles out at this stage. Use raw chicken only if using a Ninja Soup Maker; otherwise, use 200 g cooked chicken.
- 2
Add hot water to the soup maker, filling only to the appliance's indicated line.
- 3
Put the lid on the soup maker and select the chunky soup setting.
- 4
Choose one noodle method: add the noodles 5–6 minutes before the end of the cycle; stir in noodles that have been cooked separately at the end; or, with a Ninja Soup Maker, add the noodles at the end of the chunky soup program and use the cook function for a few minutes to soften and cook them.
Notes
The recipe does not specify the exact soup-maker fill volume or a universal cooking duration beyond the stated approximately 30-minute cycle. For soup makers that cannot safely cook raw chicken, use 200 g cooked chicken. If the soup maker has a sauté function, the onions and garlic may optionally be cooked in a little oil first, although no oil quantity is specified.
