Ingredients
- 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade, rolled out into a large circle)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (divided; cheddar or mozzarella work well)
- 2 beef patties (pre-cooked or seared)
- 2 tbsp burger sauce
- 4 slices pickles
- 0.25 cup caramelized onions
- 0.25 cup bell pepper (sliced and sautéed)
- 1 egg yolk (beaten, for egg wash)
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
Steps
- 1
Drape the rolled-out dough over a medium-sized mixing bowl to create a vessel for layering.
- 2
Place a layer of shredded cheese at the bottom of the dough-lined bowl.
- 3
Add the first cooked beef patty on top of the cheese.
- 4
Spread the burger sauce over the patty, then add a layer of pickle slices.
- 5
Add the caramelized onions and sautéed bell peppers.
- 6
Place the second beef patty on top and finish with another layer of shredded cheese.
- 7
Fold the edges of the dough over the filling to close the burger, pinching the bottom to seal it tightly.
- 8
Carefully flip the dough-wrapped burger out of the bowl and onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- 9
Brush the entire surface of the dough with the beaten egg yolk.
- 10
Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top of the egg-washed dough.
- 11
Bake at 360°F (182°C) for approximately 25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and crispy.
Notes
Ensure the beef patties are pre-cooked before assembling, as the baking time is primarily for the dough. You can customize the fillings with bacon, jalapeños, or different types of cheese.
