Ingredients
- 245 g all-purpose flour
- 113 g unsalted butter (melted)
- 165 g light brown sugar (packed)
- 68 g granulated sugar
- 1 large egg (Use 1 whole large egg)
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 0.5 tsp baking soda
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 120 g jumbo marshmallows (Cut in half)
- 280 g milk chocolate chips (Fold most into the dough; reserve some for the filling and topping)
- 1 Hershey’s milk chocolate bar (For topping; estimated at approximately 43 g because the bar size was not specified)
- 10.5 sheets Graham crackers (Enough to line the bottom of an 8×8-inch pan; source specifies about 9–12 full sheets)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving enough overhang to lift the finished bars out easily.
- 2
Arrange enough graham crackers to cover the bottom of the prepared pan, using approximately 9–12 full cracker sheets.
- 3
In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter, packed light brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until the mixture is smooth.
- 4
Add the whole egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract to the butter-and-sugar mixture. Whisk until fully combined.
- 5
Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir just until no dry streaks remain; do not overmix.
- 6
Fold most of the milk chocolate chips into the cookie dough, reserving some for the filling and the topping.
- 7
Gently spread part of the cookie dough evenly over the graham crackers, pressing it gently into an even layer.
- 8
Add the halved marshmallows and some of the reserved chocolate chips, pressing them down gently into the dough.
- 9
Dollop the remaining cookie dough over the marshmallows. Leave some marshmallows exposed, then sprinkle the extra reserved chocolate chips over the top.
- 10
Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and the center is just set.
- 11
Remove the pan from the oven and let the bars cool in the pan for 15–20 minutes. While they are still warm, press pieces of the Hershey’s chocolate bar into the top.
- 12
Use the parchment overhang to remove the bars from the pan. Transfer them to a wire rack and allow them to cool completely before cutting.
Notes
The source does not specify exactly how much dough or chocolate to reserve for the filling and topping; divide them by preference while keeping enough dough to cover the marshmallows. The Hershey’s bar size is not specified, so its weight and nutrition are estimated. Cool completely before cutting for cleaner bars.
