Ingredients

  • 1 cup Milk powder (Full cream milk powder)
  • 0.25 cup All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tbsp Ghee (Melted)
  • 0.25 cup Milk (Add gradually to form dough)
  • 1 cup Sugar (For syrup)
  • 1 cup Water (For syrup)
  • 3 Cardamom pods (Crushed, for syrup)
  • Vegetable oil (For deep frying)

Steps

  1. 1

In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water, and crushed cardamom pods. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 5-7 minutes to create a light syrup. Set aside.

  2. 2

In a mixing bowl, combine milk powder, flour, and baking powder. Mix well.

  3. 3

Add the melted ghee to the dry ingredients and mix until crumbly.

  4. 4

Gradually add milk to the mixture, kneading gently until a soft, smooth dough forms. Do not overwork the dough.

  5. 5

Divide the dough into small, equal-sized portions and roll them into smooth balls between your palms, ensuring there are no cracks.

  6. 6

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-low heat. Fry the dough balls in batches, turning frequently, until they are evenly golden brown.

  7. 7

Remove the fried balls from the oil and immediately drop them into the warm sugar syrup. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure the oil is not too hot, or the outside will burn before the inside is cooked. The dough should be soft; if it feels too dry, add a tiny bit more milk.
