Ingredients
- 500 g Mozzarella cheese or Oaxaca cheese (Shredded or pulled into strands; it should be a cheese that melts well.)
- 1 Egg (Lightly beaten.)
- 1 cup Breadcrumbs (For coating the balls; seasoned breadcrumbs may be used.)
- 500 ml Vegetable oil (For frying; the amount absorbed will vary depending on the method.)
Steps
- 1
Shred or pull the cheese into strands and place it in a bowl. If it is very moist, pat it slightly dry with paper towels so the balls hold their shape better.
- 2
Take portions of cheese and press them firmly between your hands to form compact balls approximately 3 to 4 cm in diameter. Refrigerate them for 10 minutes so they firm up slightly.
- 3
Beat the egg in a bowl until the white and yolk are fully combined.
- 4
Dip each ball in the beaten egg and let the excess drip off.
- 5
Coat the balls with breadcrumbs, pressing gently so the coating adheres. For a more durable coating, repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps a second time.
- 6
Heat the oil in a pot or deep skillet to approximately 175 °C. It is ready when a little breadcrumb bubbles immediately upon contact with the oil without burning.
- 7
Add the balls in small batches, without overcrowding the vessel. Fry them for 1 to 2 minutes, turning them carefully, until golden brown and crispy.
- 8
Remove them with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve them hot, while the cheese is melted.
Notes
The visible post promotes cheese balls and mentions three ingredients, but it does not provide quantities, specific ingredients, or instructions. The recipe above is an estimated reconstruction and should be verified against the original video content. Oil is included as the cooking medium, although it is not normally counted among the three main ingredients. They can also be cooked in an air fryer at 200 °C for approximately 8 to 10 minutes, lightly sprayed with oil; freeze them for 20 to 30 minutes beforehand to reduce the risk of the cheese leaking out.
