Ingredients
- 2 oz crescent dough sheets (8-ounce packages; or crescent rolls with seams pinched together)
- 1 lb breakfast sausage roll (divided in half)
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard (divided)
- 1.5 cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- 2
Unroll each sheet of crescent dough sheets. If you are using crescent rolls instead of sheets, pinch the seams together to form one solid, continuous sheet.
- 3
Divide the breakfast sausage roll in half and spread each half evenly into a very thin layer over the dough sheets.
- 4
Spread 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard over each sausage-topped sheet and top evenly with the shredded cheddar cheese.
- 5
Beginning with the longer side of the dough, roll it securely into a log.
- 6
If the dough has become too soft or warm to handle, place it in the freezer for 10 minutes before slicing.
- 7
Slice each roll into 22 (1/2 inch) slices, for a total of 44 pinwheels.
- 8
Place the slices on 2 lightly greased, parchment-lined baking sheets.
- 9
Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown and toasted on the bottom, about 12 to 14 minutes.
Notes
If the dough becomes too warm while assembling, a quick 10-minute chill in the freezer makes slicing much cleaner and easier.
