Ingredients
- 2.5 oz Gin (high quality, such as Tanqueray or Hendrick's)
- 0.5 oz Dry Vermouth
- Ice (for stirring)
- 1 Lemon peel (for garnish)
Steps
- 1
Place a martini glass or coupe in the freezer for at least 10 minutes to ensure it is icy cold.
- 2
Fill a mixing glass with plenty of fresh ice.
- 3
Pour 2.5 oz of gin and 0.5 oz of dry vermouth over the ice.
- 4
Stir the mixture gently with a bar spoon for about 30 seconds until the mixing glass is frosted and the drink is very cold.
- 5
Strain the cocktail into the chilled martini glass.
- 6
Express the oils of a lemon peel over the surface of the drink, rub the rim with the peel, and drop it into the glass as a garnish.
Notes
For an even colder martini, store your gin in the freezer. Stirring instead of shaking keeps the drink crystal clear and prevents over-dilution.
