Ingredients
- 115 g butter (Melt and brown in a pan; be careful not to burn it.)
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 190 g flour (Approximately 1 cup plus slightly less than 1 cup; 1 cup measures 200 ml.)
- 0.333 tsp baking soda (About ⅓ tsp.)
- salt (1 pinch)
- 5 g vanillin
- 200 g chocolate chips
Steps
- 1
Melt and brown the butter in a pan; be careful not to burn it. Set the browned butter aside to cool slightly.
- 2
Whisk the warm butter with the brown sugar and granulated sugar.
- 3
Add the egg and whisk the mixture again.
- 4
Mix the flour, baking soda, salt, and vanillin in a separate bowl.
- 5
Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Mix with a spatula until the dough comes together.
- 6
Add the chocolate chips and mix one last time to distribute them throughout the dough.
- 7
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- 8
Roll out the chilled dough between two sheets of parchment paper to approximately 18 × 22 cm.
- 9
Cut the dough into strips approximately 1.5 cm wide.
- 10
Arrange the strips spaced apart on a parchment-lined baking tray.
- 11
Bake in a thoroughly preheated 175°C oven for 9-10 minutes. Remove the cookies from the oven before the tops begin to brown.
- 12
If the cookie sticks spread slightly or lose their shape while baking, immediately straighten the edges with two knives as soon as they come out of the oven.
Notes
The source does not specify the approximate yield; approximately 8 servings have been estimated depending on the number of strips cut at 1.5 cm wide. The oven temperature is given as 175°C.
