Ingredients
- 2 large chicken breasts (Cut into strips)
- 0.25 cup flour (For pre-coating the chicken)
- vegetable oil (For frying; amount not specified)
- 3 cup flour (For the dry coating mixture)
- 1 cup cornstarch (For the dry coating mixture)
- 1 paket baking powder
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tbsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp paprika or cayenne pepper (Prepared Cajun seasoning can be used if the spices are unavailable)
- 2 şişe cold sparkling water or mineral water (Added gradually to part of the dry mixture)
Steps
- 1
Cut the chicken breasts lengthwise into strips. Add 1/4 cup flour and toss thoroughly until each piece is completely coated.
- 2
In a separate bowl, prepare the dry coating mixture by combining 3 cups flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika or cayenne pepper.
- 3
Transfer some of the dry mixture to another bowl. Gradually add the cold sparkling water to this mixture, stirring until a pourable batter forms.
- 4
Dip the floured chicken strips first into the sparkling-water batter.
- 5
After removing the chicken from the wet mixture, coat it in the dry flour mixture.
- 6
For a crispier coating, dip the chicken once more into the wet mixture, then coat it again in the dry mixture.
- 7
Heat the frying oil. Fry the chicken at 175°C for approximately 6-8 minutes, until fully cooked.
- 8
Finally, raise the oil temperature slightly and fry the chicken for approximately 30 seconds more. This brief second fry makes the exterior extra crispy.
- 9
Serve the crispy chicken with your favorite sauce.
Notes
The source does not specify the amount of frying oil. The chicken must be fully cooked; check the cooking time according to the size of the pieces. Prepared Cajun seasoning can be used instead of the listed spices.
