Weights are estimates. Together, the ingredients weigh about 1.57 kg before cooking, which is about 395 g per serving.
Steps
Cube the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Season well with garlic and herb seasoning and black pepper, then toss with a few tablespoons of flour until evenly coated. Set aside.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil for the pasta.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt half a stick (4 tablespoons) of butter.
Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for 3 minutes on each side. Toss and cook for an additional minute until fully cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
Once the water is boiling, add the angel hair pasta and the broccoli florets to the same pot. Cook for about 3 minutes.
Before draining, reserve about 2 cups of the starchy pasta water. Drain the pasta and broccoli, then set aside.
In the same skillet used for the chicken, melt the remaining half stick of butter.
Add the minced garlic and the zest of one lemon to the melted butter. Toss briefly until fragrant.
Add the cooked broccoli to the skillet. Cook for a few minutes, mashing or cutting it up with your spatula to your desired consistency.
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet along with 1 cup of the reserved pasta water and the juice of the lemon.
Add about 1 cup of freshly shredded parmesan cheese and toss everything together well.
Add another half cup of pasta water (1.5 cups total) and a bit more parmesan cheese to reach a creamy consistency.
Top the pasta with the cooked chicken, additional parmesan cheese, the remaining lemon zest, red pepper flakes, and fresh parsley.
Notes
The broccoli is cooked directly in the pasta water for efficiency. Mashing the broccoli into the butter sauce helps distribute the flavor throughout the angel hair pasta.
