- 2 tbsp instant yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 0.333 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 egg
- 3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- cheese (optional, for the bottom of the tin)
- egg wash (1 egg beaten with a splash of water)
- garlic butter (melted butter mixed with minced garlic and herbs)

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of instant yeast with 1 cup of warm water and stir.

Add in 1/3 cup of vegetable oil, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, and 1 egg, then mix again to combine.

Stir in 3 cups of flour and 1 teaspoon of salt.

Knead the dough for 3 to 5 minutes until smooth.

Heavily butter a 12-cup muffin tin.

If desired, add a small amount of cheese to the bottom of each muffin cup.

Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces.

Roll each piece of dough into a rope, tie into a knot, and drop into the prepared muffin tin.

Brush the tops of the knots with egg wash.

Allow the knots to rest for 5 to 10 minutes while the oven preheats to 400°F (200°C).

Notes
