Ingredients
- 300 g flour (all-purpose flour)
- 150 g very hot water (very hot water)
- 15 g oil (olive oil)
- 1 tsp salt
Steps
- 1
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, very hot water, oil, and salt.
- 2
Mix the ingredients initially with a spoon, then switch to kneading by hand until you obtain a smooth ball of dough.
- 3
Divide the dough immediately into 8 equal-sized balls.
- 4
For the dough balls you intend to use now, roll them out as thin as possible on a floured surface using a rolling pin.
- 5
Heat a pan until very hot. Cook each tortilla for 1-2 minutes per side; they should remain light in color to ensure they stay soft and don't dry out.
- 6
Place the cooked tortillas on a wooden board and cover them with a clean cloth while they cool to maintain their moisture and elasticity.
- 7
Fill and fold the tortillas as desired. If making burritos, you can briefly return the folded burrito to the pan to seal the edges.
Notes
Freezing instructions: You can freeze the dough balls directly without plastic wrap or paper. When ready to use, take them out about an hour before to thaw at room temperature. The author suggests these are excellent for vegan wraps and burritos.
