Ingredients
- 3 potatoes (medium; boiled and mashed)
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese (cut into small cubes)
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 0.5 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp chili flakes (optional)
- oil (for frying)
- ketchup (for serving)
Steps
- 1
Boil the potatoes, then mash them until smooth.
- 2
Add the cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and optional chili flakes to the mashed potatoes. Mix until the seasonings and cornstarch are evenly incorporated.
- 3
Take a small portion of the potato mixture and flatten it in your hand.
- 4
Place a cube of mozzarella in the center of the flattened potato mixture.
- 5
Seal the potato mixture around the mozzarella and roll it into a ball. Repeat with the remaining potato mixture and cheese.
- 6
Place the potato cheese balls in the freezer for 30 minutes to help them firm up.
- 7
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- 8
Fry the potato cheese balls until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- 9
Remove the fried cheese balls from the oil and drain them on paper towels.
- 10
Serve hot with ketchup. The cheese should be gooey when eaten warm.
Notes
The source does not specify the amount of frying oil, the number of balls, or an exact frying time. Fry in batches if needed so the balls can brown on all sides.
