Ingredients
- 12 oz dry pasta (Any short or long pasta shape; cook according to package directions.)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (Toss with the cooked pasta to help prevent sticking.)
- salt (For the pasta water, to taste.)
- 2 cups pasta sauce (Optional; use tomato sauce, pesto, or another sauce suitable for freezing.)
Steps
- 1
Bring a large pot of generously salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package directions until al dente. Reserve a small amount of pasta water if you plan to add sauce.
- 2
Drain the pasta thoroughly. Do not rinse it unless you are preparing plain pasta specifically for a cold dish.
- 3
Transfer the hot pasta to a large bowl. Add the olive oil and toss until the noodles are lightly coated and no longer sticking together.
- 4
Add the pasta sauce, if using, and toss until evenly distributed. Add a splash of reserved pasta water if the mixture seems dry.
- 5
Divide the pasta among freezer-safe silicone molds or muffin-cup-style portions, pressing gently to compact each serving without crushing the pasta.
- 6
Let the portions cool until no longer steaming. Cover the molds and freeze until solid, at least 2 hours or preferably overnight.
- 7
Once frozen, pop the pasta portions out of the molds and transfer them to an airtight freezer bag or container. Label and date the container.
- 8
To serve, reheat a portion from frozen in the microwave or in a covered skillet with a splash of water or sauce. Heat until steaming hot throughout, stirring or turning as needed.
Notes
The source only provides a brief caption and does not show a written ingredient list or method. Quantities and preparation details are therefore reconstructed estimates based on the freezer-meal and pasta context. Freeze portions individually before transferring them to a storage container so they do not stick together.
