Ingredients

  • 2.5 salmon portions (2-3 portions)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp gochujang hot sauce (plus more for brushing after cooking)
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp garlic and herb seasoning
  • salt (a pinch)
  • black pepper (to taste)
  • sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • green onion (for garnish)
  • seaweed sheets (for serving)
  • kewpie mayo (for drizzling)
  • steamed jasmine rice (for serving)

Steps

  1. 1

In a bowl, combine the salmon fillets with soy sauce, rice vinegar, melted butter, gochujang hot sauce, garlic & herb seasoning, and a pinch of salt.

  2. 2

Gently massage the marinade into the salmon, then place the fillets meat-side down and skin-side up in the bowl. Let the salmon sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes while you prepare your garnishes and any sides.

  3. 3

Transfer the salmon fillets to an air fryer basket set over a rack. Crack a generous amount of black pepper on top of the salmon.

  4. 4

Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8 minutes. If you prefer a more well-done texture, cook for 9 minutes.

  5. 5

Once the salmon is finished cooking, brush the top of the fillets with a little more gochujang hot sauce.

  6. 6

Finish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve with steamed jasmine rice, seaweed sheets, and a drizzle of Kewpie mayo.

Notes

For best results, use a meat thermometer to ensure the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 145°F. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to allow hot air to circulate properly. To reheat, use the air fryer at 350°F for 2-3 minutes or the oven at 300°F wrapped in foil for 10-12 minutes.
