Ingredients
- 1.5 lb chicken breast (cut into bite-sized pieces)
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
- 0.5 cup cornstarch (for coating chicken)
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
- 0.33 cup honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- 4 garlic (cloves, minced)
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 2 green onions (sliced, for garnish)
Steps
- 1
In a large bowl, season the bite-sized chicken breast pieces with salt and black pepper.
- 2
Add the cornstarch to the bowl and toss the chicken until every piece is evenly and thoroughly coated.
- 3
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- 4
Add the chicken to the skillet in a single layer, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
- 5
Fry the chicken for 3-4 minutes per side until it is golden brown, crispy, and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
- 6
In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and apple cider vinegar to create the sauce.
- 7
Wipe out any excess oil from the skillet and pour in the sauce mixture.
- 8
Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 1-2 minutes until it begins to thicken slightly.
- 9
Add the cooked chicken back into the skillet and toss well to coat every piece in the honey garlic glaze.
- 10
Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
Notes
Serve immediately over steamed white rice or broccoli. If the sauce becomes too thick, add a splash of water to loosen it.
