Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (such as Pillsbury Grands!)
  • vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar (for dusting)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (for dusting)
  • butter-nut sauce (for dipping)

Steps

  1. 1

Open the can of refrigerated biscuit dough and separate the biscuits.

  2. 2

Cut each biscuit into triangles (typically quarters) to create the beignet shape.

  3. 3

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to approximately 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

Carefully place the dough triangles into the hot oil and fry until they are golden brown and fluffy on both sides.

  5. 5

In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.

  6. 6

Remove the fried beignets from the oil and drain briefly on paper towels.

  7. 7

While still warm, toss the beignets in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.

  8. 8

Serve immediately with butter-nut sauce for dipping.

Notes

The butter-nut sauce mentioned is a signature Cracker Barrel accompaniment. If you cannot find the bottled version, a mixture of melted butter, maple syrup, and a drop of almond or butternut extract can serve as a substitute.
