Ingredients
- 2 Moringa (drumstick) pods (Use 2–3 pods; peel and cut into small pieces.)
- 0.5 cup Moong dal (Wash before using.)
- 1 tsp Ghee (The method also uses a little ghee for tempering/heating.)
- Turmeric (A pinch.)
- 0.5 tsp Cumin-coriander powder (Add after blending.)
- Black pepper powder (A tiny pinch or very small pinch.)
- Water (As required, for pressure cooking and adjusting the final consistency.)
Steps
- 1
Peel the moringa pods and cut them into small pieces.
- 2
Heat a little of the ghee in a pressure cooker. Add the moringa pieces and sauté them lightly.
- 3
Add a pinch of turmeric and sauté for a few seconds.
- 4
Add the washed moong dal and enough water. Pressure-cook until the dal and moringa become completely soft.
- 5
Once cooked, let the mixture cool slightly. Blend everything into a smooth purée.
- 6
Heat the remaining ghee in a pan and add the blended mixture.
- 7
Add the cumin-coriander powder and a very small pinch of black pepper powder.
- 8
Add water as required to adjust the consistency. Bring the soup to a gentle boil for 2–3 minutes, then serve.
Notes
For babies, adjust the texture according to age and feeding stage. Ensure there are no hard or fibrous moringa pieces before serving. The source does not specify the pressure-cooking duration or pressure-cooker setting.
