Ingredients
- 2 lb ground pork (Chicken may be used instead.)
- 0.5 cup green onion (Chopped.)
- 4 garlic (Cloves, minced.)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp Chinese five-spice powder (Listed as 5 spice.)
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp MSG (Optional.)
- 0.5 cup water (Added to the pork mixture.)
- wonton wrappers (Amount not specified.)
- chili oil (Amount not specified; layer between the filling and wrappers and add more after cooking.)
- napa cabbage (Amount not specified.)
- 0.25 cup water (Added to the top layer.)
- water (About 1 inch in the pot for steaming; amount depends on the pot size.)
Steps
- 1
Add the ground pork, cornstarch, minced garlic, sesame oil, five-spice powder, MSG if using, oyster sauce, green onion, and 1/2 cup water to a bowl.
- 2
Mix the pork mixture well so the seasonings and liquid are evenly distributed.
- 3
Use a 10- to 12-ounce soufflé cup or soup cup. Layer the seasoned pork, napa cabbage, wonton wrapper, and chili oil in the cup, then repeat the layers. The source uses three layers.
- 4
Add 1/4 cup water to the top layer. Do not add chili oil to the top layer before cooking.
- 5
Pour about 1 inch of water into a pot large enough to hold the cup. Heat over medium-high heat and bring the water to a boil.
- 6
Place the filled soufflé cup in the pot, cover the pot, and cook for 8–10 minutes.
- 7
Add chili oil to the top layer after cooking, then serve and enjoy.
Notes
The source does not specify the amounts of wonton wrappers, napa cabbage, or chili oil, nor does it provide a doneness cue or internal temperature for the pork. Ensure the pork is fully cooked before serving.
