Ingredients

  • 0.6666666667 cup Unsweetened cacao or cocoa powder
  • 0.3333333333 cup Honey
  • 0.5 cup Cacao butter or coconut oil (Melted. Cacao butter produces bars that stay solid more readily at room temperature; coconut oil is an alternative.)

Steps

  1. 1

Gently melt the cacao butter or coconut oil until fully liquid. Do not overheat.

  2. 2

Place the melted cacao butter or coconut oil in a mixing bowl. Gradually add the honey and unsweetened cacao or cocoa powder, whisking continuously to prevent lumps.

  3. 3

Pour the chocolate mixture into a mold and spread it evenly.

  4. 4

Refrigerate the mold for 2–3 hours, or freeze it for 30–45 minutes, until the chocolate is fully set.

  5. 5

Once hardened, remove the chocolate from the mold.

  6. 6

Store the chocolate bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer.

Notes

Cacao butter has a higher melting point, approximately 93–100°F, than coconut oil, which is approximately 76°F. As a result, bars made with cacao butter stay solid at room temperature and do not melt as easily. Both options work, and coconut oil may be less expensive and easier to find.
