Ingredients

  • oil (Just enough to cover the bottom of the skillet)
  • 0.25 stick butter (Quarter stick)
  • 1 lb boneless pork chops (Trimmed and cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • salt (To taste)
  • black pepper (To taste; additional pepper is added at the end)
  • 3 cup beef stock (Chicken or vegetable stock may be used instead)
  • onion mushroom seasoning mix (One packet)
  • cream of mushroom soup with roasted garlic (One can)
  • 1 lb orzo pasta
  • heavy cream (A splash, added after the heat is turned off)
  • Parmesan cheese (Some, added after the heat is turned off)
  • parsley (For finishing)

Steps

  1. 1

Trim the boneless pork chops and cut them into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

Heat a skillet over moderate heat. Add enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan, then add the quarter stick of butter and let it melt.

  3. 3

Season the pork pieces with salt and pepper, then add them to the hot skillet. Keep the heat moderate rather than extremely high; the pork should gently sizzle.

  4. 4

Cook the pork just until it develops some color. It does not need to be cooked completely through at this stage. Leave some browned color on the bottom of the pan.

  5. 5

Pour in the beef stock. Chicken or vegetable stock may be substituted.

  6. 6

Add the packet of onion-mushroom seasoning mix.

  7. 7

Add the can of cream of mushroom soup with roasted garlic and stir it into the stock and pan juices.

  8. 8

Add the orzo pasta and return the pork to the skillet.

  9. 9

Cover the skillet, reduce the heat to a simmer, and cook for about 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is done and the mixture has thickened.

  10. 10

Turn off the heat. Add a little black pepper and parsley.

  11. 11

Stir in a splash of heavy cream and some Parmesan cheese. Serve the pork and creamy orzo in bowls.

Notes

The source does not specify the exact amount of oil, onion-mushroom seasoning, soup, heavy cream, or Parmesan. It also does not give an exact serving yield. The pork is only partially cooked before the simmering stage; ensure it is fully cooked before serving. The creator mentions that chicken can be used in place of pork.
