Ingredients

  • 400 g Potato (Raw; dice and rinse under water)
  • 15 g Cornstarch or potato starch
  • 0.5 tsp Garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Dried parsley
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • Cooking spray (Use a light coating before air frying)

Steps

  1. 1

Dice the raw potatoes into small, fairly uniform pieces. Rinse them under cold water to remove excess surface starch, then drain.

  2. 2

Place the diced potatoes in a microwave-safe bowl and cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Pierce the plastic wrap several times with a fork to allow steam to escape.

  3. 3

Microwave the covered potatoes using the settings shown in the video, until they are fully tender and can be mashed easily. Carefully remove the plastic wrap because trapped steam will be very hot.

  4. 4

Mash the cooked potatoes thoroughly while they are still warm, working until the mixture is as smooth as possible and no large chunks remain.

  5. 5

Let the mashed potatoes cool completely before adding the starch. Cooling helps the mixture form a workable dough rather than becoming loose or gummy.

  6. 6

Add the garlic powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, dried parsley, salt, and cornstarch or potato starch to the cooled mashed potatoes.

  7. 7

Mix and knead the mixture until the starch and seasonings are evenly distributed and a cohesive potato dough forms.

  8. 8

Pinch off small portions of the dough and shape them into bite-sized potato balls. Keep the pieces similar in size so they cook evenly.

  9. 9

Arrange the potato balls on an air-fryer rack or in the air-fryer basket with a little space between them. Lightly coat the outside with cooking spray.

  10. 10

Air-fry at 200ยฐC / 400ยฐF for 12โ€“15 minutes, until the potato balls are crisp and browned on the outside. Turn or shake them during cooking if needed for even browning.

  11. 11

Serve immediately while hot and crunchy.
