Ingredients
- 0.75 cup Water
- 0.25 cup Milk
- 2 tbsp Unsalted butter (For the dough)
- 1 tbsp Sugar (For the dough)
- 0.25 tsp Salt
- 1 cup All-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp Cornstarch
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- Cooking spray (For lightly spraying the churros)
- Warm water (Add gradually, 1 to 2 tbsp only if the dough is too firm to pipe)
- 0.25 cup Sugar (For the cinnamon coating)
- 1 tsp Ground cinnamon (For the coating)
- 1 tbsp Melted butter (For brushing the churros)
Steps
- 1
In a saucepan, bring the water, milk, butter, sugar, and salt to a boil.
- 2
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the flour and cornstarch, then mix until a smooth dough forms.
- 3
Let the dough cool for 5 to 10 minutes. Then mix in the vanilla extract.
- 4
If the dough is too firm to pipe, gradually add 1 to 2 tbsp of warm water until it reaches a pipeable consistency.
- 5
Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped open-star tip.
- 6
Pipe 3 to 4-inch churros onto parchment paper, then lightly spray them with oil.
- 7
Preheat the air fryer to 200 °C for 3 to 4 minutes.
- 8
Cook the churros at 180 °C for 16 minutes, turning them halfway through cooking.
- 9
Increase the temperature to 200 °C and continue cooking for 2 to 3 minutes, until the churros are golden and crispy.
- 10
Brush the churros with melted butter, then coat them in the sugar-and-cinnamon mixture.
Notes
The source does not specify the exact number of churros produced. The amount of warm water is only an optional consistency adjustment. The recipe specifies air-fryer cooking without deep-frying.
