Ingredients

  • 400 g Watermelon (Cut into pieces; use a very juicy slice)
  • 150 g Cherries (Pitted)
  • 2 Yellow lemon juice (Juice the lemons and use only the juice, without zest or seeds)
  • 6 feuilles Fresh basil (A few leaves; the amount is optional according to taste, with an additional leaf if desired for decoration)
  • Sugar (A little, to taste)
  • Water (A little water to dilute, according to the desired consistency)
  • Ice cubes (A generous amount, for serving very chilled)

Steps

  1. 1

Pit the cherries. Cut the watermelon into pieces small enough to make blending easier.

  2. 2

Place the watermelon pieces and pitted cherries in a blender. Blend until you obtain a smooth, brightly colored base.

  3. 3

Juice the two lemons and strain the juice if necessary to remove the seeds and prevent any bitterness from the zest.

  4. 4

In another container or in the rinsed blender, blend the lemon juice with a few basil leaves and a little sugar to release the basil’s aroma and partially dissolve the sugar.

  5. 5

Pour the lemon-basil mixture into the watermelon and cherry base. Mix thoroughly until the two preparations are well combined.

  6. 6

Add a little water to dilute the drink, adjusting according to the desired texture and intensity.

  7. 7

Pour the mocktail into an attractive pitcher. Add a generous amount of ice cubes and stir gently.

  8. 8

Serve immediately, well chilled, optionally garnished with a small basil leaf.

Notes

The quantities of watermelon, cherries, water, basil and sugar were not specified in the source and have therefore been estimated. Adjust the sugar and water according to the sweetness of the fruit and the desired consistency. For an even cooler drink, refrigerate the fruit before blending.
