Ingredients
- 330 g ripe bananas (peeled and mashed)
- 8 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 egg (room temperature)
- 0.333 cup granulated sugar
- 0.5 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla bean paste
- 0.333 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt (use sour cream or Greek yogurt)
- 190 g all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- salt (a pinch)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (more may be used for topping, if desired)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix for 1–2 minutes, until well combined and a paste forms.
- 3
Crack the room-temperature egg into the banana mixture and whisk until well combined.
- 4
Add the sour cream or Greek yogurt and vanilla bean paste. Mix for 1–2 minutes, until everything is well combined.
- 5
In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking soda.
- 6
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet batter. Add the chocolate chips and mix only until just combined; do not overmix.
- 7
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Top with additional chocolate chips if desired.
- 8
Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 9
Let the banana bread cool completely before cutting and serving.
Notes
The source does not specify whether the optional topping chocolate chips are additional chips or reserved from the listed amount. The flour measurement is preserved as stated: 1 1/2 cups (190 g).
