Ingredients

  • 400 g ground beef
  • 1 onion
  • 4 teentjes garlic
  • 1 zucchini (diced)
  • 400 g canned diced tomatoes
  • 75 ml water
  • 150 ml milk
  • 125 g crème fraîche
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp basil (Add at the end.)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp parsley
  • nutmeg (a pinch)
  • black pepper (a pinch)
  • red pepper flakes (a pinch)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 zakje lasagne Bolognese seasoning mix (Knorr)
  • lasagne sheets (Quantity not specified. The creator pre-cooked the sheets but notes that this is not necessary.)
  • grated mozzarella (Quantity not specified.)
  • grated cheese of choice (Quantity not specified.)

Steps

  1. 1

Sauté the onion and garlic in a pan until soft and translucent.

  2. 2

Add the ground beef and cook until browned and crumbly.

  3. 3

Season the ground beef with paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, red pepper flakes, salt, and parsley.

  4. 4

Add the bay leaves and lasagne Bolognese seasoning mix.

  5. 5

Add the diced tomatoes, water, milk, crème fraîche, and diced zucchini. Stir everything well.

  6. 6

Add the oregano and let the sauce simmer with the lid on for approximately 20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened well.

  7. 7

Preheat the oven to 200 °C.

  8. 8

Assemble the lasagne in an ovenproof dish: start with a tablespoon of sauce, top with lasagne sheets, add more sauce, and sprinkle with grated cheese and mozzarella.

  9. 9

Repeat the layers until all the ingredients have been used. Add the basil at the end.

  10. 10

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake the lasagne for 30 minutes in the preheated oven at 200 °C.

  11. 11

Remove the foil during the last 7 minutes so that the cheese melts completely and turns golden brown.

  12. 12

Serve the lasagne with a fresh salad. The creator also recommends banana as a surprisingly delicious side-dish combination.

Notes

The lasagne can be prepared earlier in the day and placed in the oven just before iftar. The quantity of lasagne sheets and cheese is not specified. The creator pre-cooked the lasagne sheets but says this is not necessary. A fresh salad is recommended; banana is mentioned as a surprising combination.
