Ingredients
- 1.5 cup All-purpose flour
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 0.5 tsp Baking soda
- 0.5 tsp Salt
- 0.5 cup Unsalted butter (1 stick; for the cake)
- 0.5 cup Creamy peanut butter (For the cake)
- 0.5 cup Water
- 1 Large egg (Room temperature)
- 0.25 cup Buttermilk (For the cake)
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract (For the cake)
- 0.5 cup Unsalted butter (1 stick; for the frosting)
- 0.5 cup Creamy peanut butter (For the frosting)
- 0.25 cup Buttermilk (For the frosting)
- 0.5 tsp Vanilla extract (For the frosting)
- 3 cup Powdered sugar (For the frosting)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9 × 13-inch baking pan; the creator also lines it with parchment paper.
- 2
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Stir well, then set the dry mixture aside.
- 3
In a saucepan, combine the cake butter, peanut butter, and water. Heat until the butter melts and the mixture is smooth, then turn off the heat.
- 4
Add the dry mixture to the warm peanut butter mixture a little at a time, gently stirring until incorporated.
- 5
Set the batter aside and let it cool for a few minutes.
- 6
Add the cake buttermilk and egg, and mix to combine.
- 7
Add the cake vanilla extract and stir it through the batter.
- 8
Spread the batter into the prepared pan.
- 9
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 18–24 minutes, until the center is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 10
While the cake bakes, combine the frosting butter, peanut butter, and buttermilk in a saucepan. Heat until smooth.
- 11
Remove the frosting mixture from the heat. Stir in the frosting vanilla, then gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until smooth.
- 12
Pour the frosting over the cake while it is still warm. Let the cake cool before cutting it into squares.
