Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix (Or use homemade taco seasoning; mix in without water.)
- 1 tube Pillsbury pizza dough (Any fresh or canned pizza dough may be used according to the source notes.)
- 5 Colby Jack and cheddar cheese sticks (Halve each cheese stick.)
- 4 tbsp butter (Melted.)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- non-stick cooking spray (For lightly coating the baking sheet.)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Lightly coat a large baking sheet with non-stick spray and set it aside.
- 2
Cook the ground beef in a skillet, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until it is fully browned and crumbled. Drain off any fat.
- 3
Return the skillet to the stovetop. Add the taco seasoning without water and stir until the beef is evenly coated. Let the taco meat cool to room temperature.
- 4
Spread the pizza dough flat. Cut it in half lengthwise, then make four vertical cuts to create 10 small rectangles.
- 5
Place about 1 tablespoon of taco meat in the center of each rectangle. Top each with one halved cheese stick.
- 6
Carefully roll each dough rectangle around its filling, pinching all seams closed so the filling remains enclosed.
- 7
Combine the melted butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley in a small bowl.
- 8
Brush the butter mixture over the tops of the assembled taco sticks.
- 9
Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden brown. Serve hot with your favorite taco toppings.
Notes
The source suggests serving the breadsticks with taco toppings such as salsa, guacamole, or sour cream. It also notes that leftover taco meat may be used; if preparing the full 1 lb of beef, leftover meat can be frozen.
