Ingredients
- 225 g unsalted butter (cut into cubes)
- 1 orange (unpeeled; quartered (or cut into small pieces))
- 180 g sugar
- 285 g all-purpose flour
- 3 grade A eggs
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 0.25 tsp baking soda
- 0.25 tsp salt
- oil (for greasing the mould)
- flour (for dusting the mould)
Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 170°C. Generously grease a cake mould with oil, dust it lightly with flour, and set it aside.
- 2
Put the unpeeled orange pieces in a food-processor mixing bowl and chop for 7 seconds at speed 8.5. Transfer the chopped orange to a small bowl and set aside.
- 3
Put the cubed butter and sugar in the mixing bowl. Mix for 20 seconds at speed 4.
- 4
Add the reserved chopped orange, flour, eggs, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix for 20 seconds at speed 5.
- 5
Scrape down the sides and bottom of the mixing bowl with a spatula, then mix for a further 10 seconds at speed 5.
- 6
Transfer the batter to the prepared mould and bake for 45 minutes, or until the surface is golden and the cake is cooked through.
- 7
Let the cake cool in the mould for 10 minutes. Remove it, transfer it to a wire rack, and allow it to cool completely before slicing and serving.
