Ingredients

  • 700 g Chicken breast (Cut into large cubes and salted)
  • Oil (For searing over high heat; amount as needed)
  • 1 Onion (Diced)
  • 2.5 Zehen Garlic (Source specifies 2–3 cloves; finely chopped)
  • 1 EL Tomato paste
  • 2.5 EL Dill and parsley (Chopped; source specifies 2–3 tbsp total)
  • 200 ml Pomegranate juice
  • 2 EL Pomegranate molasses
  • 150 g Pomegranate seeds (Plus some extra for garnish, according to the transcript)
  • 100 ml Water (Some water is mentioned in the transcript)
  • Salt (For seasoning the chicken and, according to the transcript, the sauce)
  • Black pepper (To taste; mentioned in the transcript)
  • Dried mint (For garnish, according to the transcript)

Steps

  1. 1

Cut the chicken breast into large cubes and season with salt. Heat oil in a large frying pan.

  2. 2

Add the seasoned chicken pieces to the hot oil and sear over high heat on all sides for about 6–7 minutes, until nicely browned.

  3. 3

Remove the browned chicken from the pan and set aside.

  4. 4

Sauté the diced onion in the same pan until golden brown.

  5. 5

Add the finely chopped garlic and sauté briefly, for about one minute.

  6. 6

Stir in the tomato paste and lightly fry it.

  7. 7

Add the chopped dill and parsley to the pan.

  8. 8

Add the pomegranate juice and pomegranate molasses. Then stir in the pomegranate seeds and water, and bring the sauce to a boil.

  9. 9

Season the sauce to taste with black pepper and salt.

  10. 10

Return the seared chicken pieces to the sauce, cover with a lid and simmer everything over medium heat until the liquid has reduced and the sauce is thick and creamy.

  11. 11

After about 10 minutes, stir once, cover again and continue simmering until the desired thick consistency is reached.

  12. 12

Coat the meat with the thick, fruity and spicy sauce and garnish, if desired, with parsley, dried mint and additional pomegranate seeds. Serve.

Notes

The exact duration of the final simmering is not specified; the sauce should reduce and become creamy or thick. The source does not mention a side dish.
