Ingredients
- 3 oz Jell-O gelatin dessert powder (Choose raspberry, lemon, orange, pineapple, lime, or strawberry.)
- 7.2 g Knox unflavored gelatin (Package weight: 7.2 g.)
- 0.25 tsp Citric acid
- 0.25 cup Corn syrup
- 0.333333 cup Water (Use room-temperature water.)
- Oil cooking spray (For lightly coating the molds.)
- 2 1-inch silicone bear candy molds (Equipment; use two molds.)
Steps
- 1
Combine the Jell-O gelatin dessert powder, unflavored gelatin, and citric acid in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Stir to combine.
- 2
Add the corn syrup and room-temperature water. Stir gently with a soup spoon until blended, using slow, sweeping motions to avoid introducing air bubbles. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes so the gelatin can bloom.
- 3
Stir the candy syrup gently, then microwave it on high for 30 seconds. Stir again, then microwave for another 15 seconds. Continue heating in 15-second intervals 3 more times, for a total heating time of 1 1/2 minutes. If bubbles begin forming on the surface, stop heating and stir gently. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes, stirring gently every couple of minutes; it should become clearer as it rests.
- 4
Lightly spray the silicone bear molds with cooking spray.
- 5
Pour the candy syrup into a measuring cup with a spout. Carefully pour it into the bear molds, leaving a little room at the top of each mold.
- 6
Let the filled molds sit for 30 minutes, then refrigerate them for another 30 minutes.
- 7
When the candy is firm, push each gummy out of the molds. Arrange the bears upright on a baking sheet or in a large storage container.
- 8
Leave the gummies upright for 48 hours, then lay them on their backs for 24 hours. Toss them occasionally as they dry. If they have not become chewy after 72 hours, leave them out for another day or two, depending on the climate.
- 9
When the gummies are chewy enough, seal them in an airtight covered container or zip-top bag.
