Quick Matcha Latte

Recipe by Ron @ronumberr · Instagram

Imported by Micaela on SeeMeCook

A fast, frothy matcha latte made by whisking sifted matcha with hot—but not boiling—water, then pouring it over milk, syrup, and ice if desired. The method uses an electric frother instead of a bamboo whisk or matcha bowl.

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp matcha powder (Sift before mixing; the source uses Naoki Barista Pro Blend.)
  • 2 tbsp hot water (Hot but not boiling.)
  • milk (Any milk; the creator used cow's milk. Prepare before assembling.)
  • syrup (Optional; add to taste if the matcha is too bitter or strong.)
  • ice (Optional; prepare before assembling.)

Steps

  1. 1

Sift 2 teaspoons of matcha into a cup. For extra-fine fluffiness, sift and mix it near the side of the cup.

  2. 2

Add 2 tablespoons of hot water to the matcha. Make sure the water is hot but not boiling.

  3. 3

Whisk the matcha and water with a cheap electric frother until the mixture is frothy.

  4. 4

Prepare any milk, syrup, and ice you would like to use. Add the ice to a serving cup if making an iced latte, then add the milk and syrup to taste.

  5. 5

Pour the frothy matcha shot over the milk mixture and ice, if using.

  6. 6

Taste the latte. If it is too bitter or strong, add a dash more milk or syrup at a time until you find your preferred ratio.

Notes

The source does not specify an amount of milk, syrup, or ice; adjust these to taste. A bamboo whisk and matcha bowl are not required. The creator recommends using a cup or jar, such as a peanut-butter jar, with an electric frother.
