Ingredients
- 90 ml heavy cream (divided)
- 3.5 tsp vanilla syrup (3-4 tsp to taste; can substitute half with simple syrup or agave)
- ice cubes (large or aesthetically pleasing cubes)
- 110 ml milk (cold)
- 2 oz espresso (1 double shot, freshly pulled)
- cocoa powder (for dusting)
Steps
- 1
In a small bowl or pitcher, combine 90mL of heavy cream and 3-4 teaspoons of vanilla syrup.
- 2
Whisk the cream mixture until it reaches a thick consistency, stopping just before it forms stiff peaks. It should be thick enough to layer but still pourable/drinkable.
- 3
Pull a double shot of espresso and set aside.
- 4
Fill a serving glass with ice cubes.
- 5
Pour approximately 110mL of milk into the glass over the ice.
- 6
Add two dollops of the prepared vanilla sweet cream onto the milk to create a base layer.
- 7
Slowly pour the espresso over the cream layer.
- 8
Top the drink with one last massive dollop of the remaining sweet cream.
- 9
Dust the top generously with cocoa powder before serving.
Notes
The original shop uses agave to sweeten the latte base (milk/espresso), but the author omits it for health reasons. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add a splash of agave to the milk before layering. For the cream, you can use a mix of vanilla syrup and simple syrup if you want less vanilla flavor.
