Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas (Large; roughly mashed. Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor.)
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter (Melted)
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar (Packed)
  • 1 large egg (At room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.333 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt (Use sour cream or Greek yogurt)
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour (Sifted)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (The source also refers to this as cinnamon powder)
  • salt (Pinch)
  • 0.75 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (Fold into the batter; use additional chocolate chips for topping, amount unspecified)
  • additional semi-sweet chocolate chips (For topping; amount unspecified)

Steps

  1. 1

In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas until they are well broken down.

  2. 2

Add the melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, egg, sour cream or Greek yogurt, and vanilla extract to the bowl.

  3. 3

Whisk the wet ingredients together until well combined, about 4–5 minutes.

  4. 4

Sift the all-purpose flour into a separate bowl.

  5. 5

Add the baking soda, salt, and cinnamon to the flour and mix until well combined.

  6. 6

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing only until a thick batter forms. Do not overmix.

  7. 7

Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.

  8. 8

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).

  9. 9

Line a loaf pan with parchment paper.

  10. 10

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.

  11. 11

Top the batter with additional semi-sweet chocolate chips.

  12. 12

Bake for 60–70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.

Notes

Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor. Do not overmix the batter, as this can result in dense bread. Other mix-ins, such as nuts or dried fruit, may be added for extra texture and flavor. The source does not specify a loaf-pan size or cooling instructions.
