Ingredients

  • 4 small rice paper wrappers (Divided into two wrappers for the base and two for the top; moisten under water before using.)
  • 1 loncha cooked ham (The original recipe uses Boar’s Head ham.)
  • 2 lonchas provolone cheese (Place over the ham and egg.)
  • 1 egg (Previously cooked as an omelet.)
  • sesame seeds (Optional, for sprinkling on the outside.)
  • cooking spray (For lightly spraying the waffle maker.)

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat the waffle maker at level 1, on low heat, and lightly spray it with oil. Keep it at this level while assembling the waffle so the filling has time to heat through without burning the rice paper.

  2. 2

Run two small rice paper wrappers under water until moistened, then place them in the waffle maker, overlapping them if necessary to cover the surface.

  3. 3

Place the ham slice, egg omelet, and two slices of provolone over the rice paper, distributing them evenly and leaving a small border around the edges.

  4. 4

Moisten the remaining two rice paper wrappers under water and place them over the filling to seal it completely.

  5. 5

If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds over the outside surface.

  6. 6

Increase the waffle maker to level 4 or 5 and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the outside is golden and crispy and the cheese has melted.

  7. 7

Carefully remove the waffle and let it rest for 1-2 minutes. This resting time allows the rice paper to become even crispier.

  8. 8

Cut it into portions and serve immediately, while the outside is still crispy and the cheese is hot.

Notes

Keep the waffle maker at low temperature during assembly and increase the heat only once all the ingredients are inside. The original recipe estimates approximately 350 kcal and 24 g of protein per serving; values may vary depending on the type of ham, cheese, rice paper, and the size of the egg.
